Is the money in your bank account a real store of value?
Do you not notice what’s been happening to it at an accelerated pace over the last 30 years?
I’m not arguing for bitcoin either way. But I implore you to take a hard look at your definition of real value in a system with inherent inflation that forces you to speculate in order to preserve any “real value.”
This is exactly the event that I’ve been preparing for. I figured out long ago that it’s not a matter of if, but when, Apple fully embraces the surveillance economy. This seems to be a strong step in that direction. As dependant as I’ve been on the Apple ecosystem, I’ve been actively adopting open source solutions in place of the Apple incumbents so that when I have to fully pull the plug, I can at least soften the blow.
In place of Mail: Tutanota
In place of iMessage: Signal
And so on…
Sounds a lot like the obesity epidemic to me. One that kills 1,794 people in the United States DAILY, year… over… fucking… year. Also completely preventable.
Seems odd that someone would weigh in with such an aggressive counterpoint in defence of Google on their own volition… I’m always suspect of comments like these coming from said company’s PR team.
I mean really, “Further I think products like this are actually unethical”?
Did you really just jump to the defence of a near 2 trillion dollar company whose business model overtly threatens some of our most fundamental human rights?
Although I agree that survivorship bias is a cheaply constructed argument, it’s hard to know how good this fund really is when it’s only been in operation during the greatest bull run of our lifetime.
