Why spend your own money when you can use your star power and proven track record to spend others' money. Nevermind, I forgot these guys are just paper billionaires but don't actually have any money, otherwise they'd pay a heck of a lot more in taxes.
To give benefit of doubt, author does state multiple times (including in the title) that these were "first impressions", so perhaps they should have mentioned something like "...In the next post, we'll explore performance and numbers" to avoid a cliffhanger situation, or do a part 1 (assuming the intention was to follow-up with a part 2).
The way I've come to think about this is that the relevance of the ad to you (as a YouTube viewer), is irrelevant. It matters not whether they are relevant to the content/topic of the video, or whether they are of the kind that SponsorBlock blocks, or those shown by YT algos. The ads serve one purpose, and one purpose alone - to bolster revenue for Google. What may have started out as a 'well-intentioned' (using the term loosely) means to recreate Costco-like ads for the digital realm in the early days of the web, was quickly consumed, like most everything else, by Corporate greed and morphed into a source of user frustration over time.
On Reddit, one reads comments more so for their entertainment value, rather than actual substance or relevance to the topic posted by the OP. Of course, this is not always true and tend to vary by sub-reddit.
I heard a lot about Mr. Robot so decided to check out the hype. Started watching with interest - the first episode really blew my mind when they started discussing GNOME and KDE, I was like wow I love this show already. Like you said the mental illness took over and I'm like this is going into la la land now - there's less hacking and more of a human angle, which is great and all, until you realize the human angle is superseding the hacking and computers, which is what drew me in in the first place. There's some real "holes in this firewall" if you get my meaning, and not in a good way. I guess part of me wanted it to be this really geeky show, but I suppose they might have gone too far already for the (comparatively) 'technologically challenged' populace already. I guess I will save my dime and wait to spend on Season 2 until after reviews are out. I hope they fix it.
I've been using dedicated (physically separate) disks for my OSes (I run Windows and some flavor of Unix or Linux at any given time) and find it is far easier and less time consuming to maintain physical separation. I get this is easier said than done on a Desktop class PC/workstation as opposed to, say, laptops, but then again there's no reason you couldn't hook up a relatively inexpensive external hard drive to run one of your *nix-y OSes. A quick 'F8' or 'F2' or whatever your variant of BIOS hotkey, will present a HDD selection menu to boot up the appropriate OS. Really makes me curious why folks still dual boot.
