I think Project Zero would count as offensive work in this regard; they are actively trying to find problems in other systems, rather than trying to stop other people trying to find problems in their systems.
Also relevant, houses aren't boiling a kettle and running their oven 24x7, so this is more like worst-case peak load and will be spread across different houses. Having some kind of battery storage closer to the houses will help a lot - the tidal generator can run fairly constantly and fill the battery, and the houses can draw in short bursts from the battery.
No affiliation, I just thought this was an interesting approach. They publish the prices the previous day, in 30-minute blocks based on the wholesale prices, and add an uplift in the evenings to encourage people to change their usage patterns away from peak (usage and carbon-intensity) times.
I don't know the numbers, but I would guess that more people sit NodeJS servers behind a CDN or proxy of some kind than PHP, making it potentially harder to identify.

The problem with that is the broadcast delays; live betting will always be as fast as possible (so that people who are physically at the match don't get much of a window to place a "guaranteed winner" bet, e.g. "next player to score"), but the various broadcast methods can add up to maybe 20 seconds' delay and most people probably wouldn't want the betting overlay to tell them that someone had scored before the TV pictures show them the action.
I've been to a few events where White Coat have been doing the captioning, and they're very good. I often find myself reading the live captions even whilst I'm listening to the speaker, I think my brain sometimes finds it easier to follow along with (e.g. to lighten the cognitive load a little if the speaker has a strong accent which I'm not tuned-in to very well). Live captioning is highly recommended for all sizeable events, and White Coat seem to be pretty good at it (I have no relationship with them, just encountered them a couple of times).
They are made from HDPE, with an additive to prevent UV-accelerated breakdown into bromates (which is what they are there to stop forming in the water, as well as to stop evaporation).
I think Charles proxy can do that, by installing itself as a VPN on iOS devices and also as a device configuration profile (so it can use a custom CA to MITM the traffic).

I haven't seen the source for the .deb package, but in theory it could add a system cert at installation time. I don't know if it does, though.
I really like that this weighs the cat; having regular, non-intrusive cat health metrics is particularly useful. Weight change can be a sign of a variety of other issues, but also probably a bunch of non-issues, so _only_ weighing a cat on an annual visit to the vet is less useful but it's quite a pain to manually weigh the cat each day to see trends. Even if only to calibrate the amount of food to dose over time, it's a useful feature.

If there’s only one owner, either through limiting the contributions or through insisting on a CLA, then that owner can do what they like moving forwards. They can’t change things retrospectively, though.
