I wouldn't be surprised if you're killbanned for disagreeing with one of HN's many insane libertarian nut jobs. This place is packed to the rafters with people who really believe the government is full of cackling evil villains and nothing more.
And if you dare to insult their religion, those nut jobs will killban you. And then only people who have showdead turned on will see what you write.
You're right, it's not controversial. It's flatly, inarguably wrong.
A business leader would very happily use a broken equity market to raise capital if they believed it was broken in their favor.
As a concrete example, if I was running YHOO in the 90s (or CRM in recent years) I'd love the public markets, because people were willing to grossly overpay, which would be a fantastic result for the business, for early investors, for early employees, and for myself personally.
There are plenty of intelligent people who believe that bitcoin is the myspace of digital money.
And plenty of other intelligent people who believe that it can be made just fine by adding dozens of layers of technical complications, and then somehow creating an easily comprehensible interface across those layers.
And plenty of other intelligent people who get hellbanned because they said something snarky but true about a yc moneymaker.
Forget causality, can you even show a meaningful positive correlation between welfare as % GDP and alcoholism or obesity? Are Moldova, the Czech Republic and Hungary hotbeds of welfare? How about Nauru, Barbados, or Belize?
If you can show the correlation, can you point me at meaningful evidence of causality?
Yeah... I didn't think so. But hey, have fun asserting those opinions as facts!
The market currently has MtGoxBTC priced as though there's a 42% chance of a timely payout. If the real odds are 75%, there's an opportunity to make $200 on a $261 investment.

Not that any of it matters in the end.
