You definitely need a dedicated office space. Especially when you got kids in the house! When we were looking for a house, having a sweet office space was one of the major factors. My office is away from the family common areas, on a different floor, and the noise I hear is minimal if any.
I hear ya taking little breaks. I'm all for taking advantage of the benefits of working from home. It's just when they get out of hand is where it gets dangerous.

We recently added Markdown as an option in our hosted reseller CMS (YikeSite) in hopes that some of our customers would choose it over the WYSIWYG editor.
I work from home and I eat breakfast, lunch and dinner with my kids. I've built a successful startup and am launching another without compromising anything. It IS possible and our breed of entrepreneur is more common however underrepresented in the startup community.

If you look at fortune 500 companies, most are run by tall, old white men over 50. The reality in today's world is that if you're a short black woman (for example), you're up against huge discrimination that runs deep in mainstream society.
I found this article the other day that Female Fortune 500 CEOs were at an "all time high". Female CEOs represent just about 3.6% of Fortune 500 company heads. That's 18, a new record. And it's not a very multicultural bunch: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/10/26/female-fortune-500-...

Yesterday we launched public URLs for a child's chart. We send this link out to subscribed relatives if a child gets a star for the day. Here is an example… I think I will link this up on the landing page.
Normally I would do a video and spend some more time on the marketing page but I thought I'd put together "something" before sending it out. I had no idea so many people would be checking it out. Ha, it looks like I registered this domain name a month after star.me in 2008. As I mentioned in the post, I have been using this for a couple of years with my son and only just now decided to open it up.
