I don’t think I would trust Downdetector in the hands of a company that its main business is consulting some of the same business to assess.
Imagine a large Accenture business being down. Would they provide that evidence even when that could harm their own SLA commitments with their clients?
Microsoft had a great start with the exclusive rights over OpenAI tech but they're not capable of really talking with developers within those large companies in the same sense Google and AWS are rapidly catching-up.
Let’s see how other relevant players like Meta, Amazon and Mistral reacts to this. Things like these just make sense with broader adoption and diverse governance model
There is no reason for Microsoft keeping two Electron-based code editor.
Would be nice to see how both communities from VSCode and Atom can work together and drive an even better coding experience with an unlimited extensions ecosystem.
I don’t think it’s the end of the startup era at all. It might be the end of startup hype ending on itself, with valuations not tight to reality and companies without business.
If this P&D budget was splitted on long-term-10-years-go-to-market products and really useful and fast increments on current Microsoft products, maybe Microsoft could be the current Google. Or Apple ;)
It's weird a company have the funniest R&D labs and its main product - Windows - still sucks with 80' Windows Registry structure or a file system which fragments a lot.
For sure, MongoDB was not production-ready before 2.0 version but I really think 10gen is doing a really great job on it. A lot could (and will be) improved, lets keep going.
MongoDB stills young and received a ton of attention for its promise. And is really unfair trying to compare it with 20+ years technologies.
MongoDB users stills pay the price to be an early adopter and I'm confident we are doing a great deal and learn a lot.
