Middle-Eastern Orthodox Christians celebrate a festival called Eid il-Burbara (Saint Barbra's festival) on the 4th of December, which has lots of similarities to Halloween and trick-or-treating but has been celebrated a lot longer than Halloween [0]

I wonder if this tradition influenced Halloween in any way

Note: my family are Orthodox Christians from Jordan, but we celebrate this festival slightly differently than what is described in [0], but I know predominantly some Christian towns celebrate it as the article describes even today

My favourite is listening to the Nothing Much Happens podcast

It's a podcast where the host reads a soothing story she wrote where very little happens

Themes include a huge range of topics such as working in her garden, stuff she sees while hiking, preparing a gift for a friend's wedding, etc

The stories take placr in a village called Nothing Much. Each story is independent but there are recurring characters

I often fall asleep before the episode ends

Have you tried doing it over a long period of time? I found that my mood and general well-being only started to improve a week after consistently sleeping 8 hours. The effect wasn't instant, and in fact, when I sleep 8 hours after a few days of only sleeping a few hours, I notice that I wake up feeling horrible and very tired

I recently started sleeping more and the changes in my life have been unbelievable

I am

- procrastinating less

- having less headaches

- coming up with more creative solutions at work

- being more attentive and present in social interactions

- ACTUALLY FEELING HAPPY AGAIN

I don't know how much of this is placebo, but ever since the corona lockdown started here in Germany, my sleep has been completely messed up. For the last two years, I felt like a zombie, like I was kinda living my life but not really there. I came to a point where I said to myself "I can't remember the last time I was actually happy or enjoyed anything".

So I've been trying to take better care of my health and fitness overall, and sleeping better is one of the thibgs I started doing

Facebook has already been found to be storing passwords in plaintext [0]

How can you trust them, or any other social media for that matter? Even if they do everything right, you are increasing the chance of giving your id to s service is that will get hacked by just giving it to more services

Yeah just give a scan of your ID to Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, Instagram, WhatsApp, TikTok, Snapchat, etc

One of my favourite albums of all time ("Witchcraft Destroys Minds and Reaps Souls" by Coven, released 1969) was very recently taken off of streaming platforms

I don't know the reason it was removed but it was like a I was pinched and realised how little control I have over my favourite music.

The album is still on YouTube but I don't know for how long.

I bought the vinyl, even though i currently don't have a record player but plan to get one

I have to start preserving DRM free or physical copies of media I like. I always knew there was a risk of stuff being removed but always put off thinking about it for convenience, but not anymore

I really hope it doesn't get dropped; it is unreasonable to live permanently in a country without speaking the local language

There are other types of residencies available if someone is an expat and doesn't plan on staying permanently

And it's not like they're asking for a high fluency; with B1, you can barely hold a simple coherent conversation

Idk how secure this is, but my iPhone is protected with Face ID and a 16-character long password with a mix of upper and lower case letters, numbers and symbols.

The password itself was generated randomly and I managed to memorise it (it took a while).
