I knew I would get this comment at least once somewhere.
This one was in middling condition, and I own three others that have either been restored or are in their original working condition. I care a lot about (and collect) Polaroid instant cameras; this was a singular sacrifice.

Looking to hire a head of Business Development. You'll help seek out potential leads, bring in new clients, and close new contracts.
We are a young design and development agency; you'd have the opportunity to really drive the direction and growth of the company. Technical or design experience is a huge plus.

At Planetary, we have designed and developed just about everything there is to design and develop — games for a Super Bowl campaign, internal apps for startups, point-of-sale applications for large national brands and dozens of issues for a number of periodicals. In doing so, we've learned the particularities of each different medium, but more importantly, we've gained a sublime handle on how to partner with our clients and become an integral, valuable part of their design and development process.
Whether for small brands, large brands, medium brands, brands without a brand, all the work we've done in the past few years has been intent on providing a talented team, clear communication, plain expectations and flawless execution. That's what you can expect from Planetary. Strong design and quality development with an unrivaled attention to detail.

I’m not sure which is more bitter, the original article or its response. If you’re going to disagree with someone, actually address the points he makes. Attacking him personally is petty and isn’t conducive to real discussion. Peter's feelings aren't necessarily without merit--why not discuss them?
The most interesting part of that article is the non-chalant last line: "Once the [wooly mammoth's] tissues have been treated to a nuclear transfer process, the eggs will be implanted into the womb of a live elephant for a 22-month pregnancy."
While these numbers will never be perfect, per se, RITA[1] shows that in 2011, Southwest's loadfactor was 80.8% while in 2012, loadfactor was 80.4%. So, the flights remained around 80% full on average.
I took this into account in my calculation and assumed roughly 4.8 more seats were filled on average per flight, not a full 6.
1. We just pushed the import feature a couple days ago so we're still tweaking how it works. This is a good suggestion, I'll definitely take it into consideration.
2. You should be seeing 1.3.7 as the 'old version' (last update we detected). We're still working on better branch/track breakdown--this isn't an issue for most packages.
3. The Twitter account is linked at the bottom of the page :)
Let me know at friends [at] bundlescout [.] com if you're not seeing the right Django version and I'll look into it today.
BundleScout[1] does this for other languages, including Node.js and Python--and of course Ruby Gems. We don't have Github integration yet, but you can simply upload your requirements file (which, it seems, some people would rather do anyway).
Typically, the updater runs about once a day. If you take another look, it will show the latest security update :) We're working very, very hard to guarantee that no updates go missed and ensure that you receive a notification within 24 hours of any update going out.
And while, yes, you can watch the RSS feed or Google group, do you really want to do that for Django and the other 29 libraries you use?
It seems particularly crazy to me that many people find out about security releases (or any releases) like this. What happens when one doesn't make the front page of HN?
Apologies for the shameless plug but at BundleScout we've been working on a tool to notify you when things like this happen[1]. It's not perfect, but it's a step up from this I'd hope.
