I’ll add https://github.com/stringer-rss/stringer to the self-hosted list. It is my reader of choice since I think over ten years. Never had the feeling of looking for another one.
I used to mix up terminal windows, and on some occasions tried to call a sudo command on university clusters. But I always followed it up with a sudo echo „sorry wrong terminal“.
I have something similar, but with traefik instead of nginx. Traefik integrates very nicely with docker using labels, such that the labels configure e.g. domain, path, http-auth etc for the web service running in a container.
Some more points, collaboration using e.g. git and its ecosystem, a representation that does not force you to use proprietary software (not sure about libre office for formulae), the ability to easily produce tex files by other scripts, e.g. to compile maths exercises from a set of templates.
Preview is one of my most loved pdf viewers, next to skim for latex writing.
I often have pdfs from my scanner which I want to join into a single document or remove back sides which accidentally got picked up by the duplex scan. It's so easy with preview; if only it could do ocr...
With that in mind, is this criticism of the Java hello world valid? Its output abstracts more than stdout and maybe in Windows this but would not occur. (I don't know, just discussing)
Now, I miss Miranda. It was a multi protocol messenger I used for icq, aim, and jabber. Friends were more into trillian. But one always had bittlebee, I somehow envied this...
I managed to get a part of my family to Threema. Just the part of "you are paying for the product, thus you are not the product yourselves" was reasonable enough.
In my friends circle we are all on telegram (after trying wire which is just buggy as hell), but I think this is mainly due to its multi device story and then fact that it is not WhatsApp.
Is 7zip really a good format for sharing data? I also use the program for unpacking and I like the context menu integration. However when I send files, I prefer zip because I feel like this is easiest for the recipient to open (no matter if they are using windows, linux, osx, Android...).
