There are additional, voluntary, insurances given by groups of banks. These are also limited and customers are not legally guaranteed a payout.

You sure? I would be surprised if MS, Google and Amazon are the same when it comes to how they handle and use PII. Note that I say that "I doubt", because without having gone the length of issuing a GDPR right of access request with any and all of them it is more of a gut feeling based on personal experience than hard facts.

You are either being dishonest or misinformed. For one, they don't upload binaries. Secondly, the more important function is checking that it isn't known malware, and thirdly they also do not (no longer) log PII like IP address or user id when performing the check. [1]

For me it’s about paying for a slightly smoother UX and for supporting the growth of the Mastodon ecosystem. I hope that good 3rd party apps will eventually also ease the onboarding of less techie audiences.

I hate subs, but I might make an exception here.

Before you get bombarded with advice on how to make applications pretty, here goes my recommendation for how to get better at designing them:

Read the classics:

  - "The Inmates are running the Asylum" (A. Cooper)
  - "The Design of Everyday Things" (D. Norman) 
  - "Don't Make Me Think" (D. Krug)

Learn how to uncover problems and validate ideas (more books incoming!):

  - "Build Better Products" (L. Klein)
  - "Validating Product Ideas" (T. Sharon)

But above everything else: Build, test (with real users), improve, repeat ... nothing is more educating than watching your users fail to utilize the awesome design that you spent days on perfecting.

Even if that was true (which I believe it is not), wouldn't that already constitute "interest in dealing with businesses"? They want businesses to buy iDevices and use them for business purposes. Whatever you think on this, you should perhaps rethink after taking a look at Apple's own reporting and their press releases concerning business and enterprise customers.

I think you may be wrong here. There is a consumerisation of the enterprise IT and Apple is happy to grab a big piece of that cake (and not unsuccessful) when it comes to push their devices into the business market. If they had no interest in dealing with businesses, they'd not invest in enabling companies to manage large fleets of Apple devices.

While AWS, GCP and Azure are all moving towards offering more higher level services(?), I think it is fair to say that when "competing with AWS" is on the table, people associate it with IaaS/PaaS offerings.

Providing more cloud services for the niche of mac developers is not "competing with AWS", is it?

I think it is more likely that we will see an Apple Coffee Machine. I could see them utilizing their silicone expertises and some creative thinking to launch an espresso capsule subscription unlike what is currently available. This, or any other first world problem that Phil might run into on a Sunday morning :)

Why would they choose to not focus their expertise on where they make metric tons of money already? What's more compelling about competing with AWS, Azure and GCP on IaaS margins than to keep on doing what works? I expect Apple to expand into more and more consumer products to augment their existing offering, not start something completely unrelated.

Self-hosted Drupal is an open source, community run project, that is free as in beer. A lot of headless CMS are SaaS products, it seems. Apples and oranges.

Is there a good resource listing/comparing the headless CMS options that are equally open and free as Drupal?
