What would motivate people? I think healthcare, as in your example, would actually see an influx of people motivated to help others.
Not everyone is lazy and would do nothing. Plenty of people work in healthcare today for less money than they would get paid in other industries primarily because they value helping others.
I do wonder though, if the reason we won’t see his likes again is because he was truly a one-off, or that his particular environment enabled him to show his excellence.
I’ve been reading “The Idea Factory”, about Bell Labs, recently.
That rings true for me, but with a slight adjustment; once you have fill your brain with knowledge you can then condense it to the simplest model, from which the rest can be derived if needed again.
Wake up.
Clothes have been delivered overnight.
Put them on, wear for the day.
At the end of the day, put them in a box outside wherever you're staying the night.
That seems like a feasible thing to build today, if you ignored all the current consequences of fast-fashion.
If you're worried about the BBC running on AWS, how do you feel about government departments with more sensitive data, like the Home Office, and HMRC, using it?
Yeah, I agree - it looks good, but it is Facebook :) The auto-following is a pretty neat feature though! I might try and pick one up to play around with when they're back in stock.
The real sticking point for me, apart from the lack of stock, is that I never call anyone using WhatsApp or Messenger. I'd ideally like compatibility with other platforms. I figured I'd start with Jitsi as its open-source, and go from there
I did briefly look at how I could get FaceTime working on something, but I think it involved jailbreaking an iPhone and getting access to the SSL certs.
I've been struggling to find time, but when I do I've been trying to get a good family-room video chat setup going.
Ideally, Apple would just release a FaceTime-compatible camera I can plug into my TV... but until then, I'm working towards a small HDMI connected device that I can control with my phone (running Jitsi).
Whilst its great that people are iterating on existing products out there, I feel slightly sad that we just have a load of "alternatives" that don't play nicely with each other.
It would be much nicer if I could use FaceTime, whilst speaking to someone on Hangouts, plus someone else on Jitsi. Apart from discovery, what is stopping that? I'm assuming they all use basically the same underlying codecs, of course!
London is about to experience two things: Brexit, and the private sector reform of IR35 legislation (for contract work). Both will affect the job market there.
Arguably the latter will be felt worse in the coming months, as Brexit has already been accounted for by many companies.
Are you actively working on this?
