this is a really neat project: "an automated, daily evaluation suite to track model performance over time, monitor for regression during peak load periods, and detect quality changes across flagship LLM APIs."
Open-weights, distilled variant of Kontext, our most advanced generative image editing model. Coming soon" is what they say on https://bfl.ai/models/flux-kontext
thanks for noticing! this is the first time we're expanding it from 'security at scale' to 'infra at scale', but we've taught this course 2 yrs in a row now
i've followed Rachel and Julia for a long time, but didn't know about Kellan - thanks so much for that.
re: human org scaling - true and this was the most surprising thing for me when i was running the platform org at discord. companies ship their org charts whether they like it or not. and refactoring org charts correctly, at scale, is essentially untested in the modern era
+1! There's such a wealth of computer vision approaches of practical value locked up in CVPR and other research papers that could be exposed this way to enthusiasts and semi-pro users
lol maybe we should have charged given the sheer time/energy it takes to put this together...
but nope, any companies we mention usually are there because they're doing something actually interesting or leading in their field tbh...whether they're small companies (allbirds), public (amzn) or somewhere in between (unity, etc)
This is a good question, and there are very few n=large enough surveys to point to any single cause, but the biggest one is that almost 50% of Internet traffic in India is on UC Browser (from Alibaba) that has very robust ad blocking (which consumes less data than Chrome while browsing). You should expect this to change as Jio becomes more widespread.
Disclaimer - I led the India section of this report.
China is and will continue to be the largest consumer VR market for the near term (1-2 yrs). By 2018, will likely have ~4M HTC Vives live in cyber cafes, arcades and malls, and ~10M stand alone and mobile VR headsets across tier 1 cities. The rough math is about a $8B high end hardware market, $2B mid to low end mobile VR hardware market, and $2-$3B in software services and game revenues.
Almost all of the high quality, AAA games and apps will be produced by US/European studios for this period, for consumption largely by Chinese consumers.
(edited to answer your original question more directly)
+1 to Kevin's note about Aframe - I've been building on it for a few months now, and can attest to it being the easiest entry point for devs with even the most basic chops. Plus Kevin and team run an awesome Slack group for devs that's very responsive.
