On one hand this is lovely code and seems to work well, on the other hand there are currently estimated to be 2.86 million call center staff in the US alone.
The situation in Iran is somewhat different. Despite being under heavy international sanctions and having a government that also exercises strict control over internet access, Iran saw the deployment of Starlink terminals following specific events, such as natural disasters or in response to certain socio-political situations. This deployment could be part of a broader strategy by the U.S. or other entities to provide uncensored internet access to the Iranian population during times of crisis. However, it's important to note that such deployments might be temporary, unofficial, or not fully sanctioned by the Iranian government.
Do not do this - I believe it may even be illegal in the UK without per-arranging.
In the UK you need to email BT (who operate the emergency system) and arrange a window to place a series of test calls to both 999 and 112. They will give you a time, a date and a script to exactly follow. If you pre-schedule with them it's supported.
Seems a bit like a nothing-article - doesn't make any real point. The FCA/FSA have already been noticing a lot of the financial providers placing 'all their eggs in one basket' and have been putting guidelines in place for banks to have a multi-'cloud' strategy.
Although to me-and-you and to an extent SME's it may seem crazy to buy one over running it on-prem or at other companies to large organisations it makes perfect sense and the cost is just a drop in the ocean compared to their normal AWS monthly bill. Lets not forget AWS will only invest time if there are customers who will actually use it.
A few points from the top of my head:
* Large enterprises won't pay the costs listed publicly, they will each have their own contract written up with AWS.
* Contracts - it can take YEARS for new companies to be added to the approved vendors list.
* Frameworks will already be in place for how resources are managed and accessed securely.
* Enterprise support agreements will already be in place.
Any decent static code analysers should be able to detect things like this (catch all’s statements, base64 encoding etc), I am surprised none seem to be used for production code.
