I've been a Threema user for over 7 years now and I have my most important contacts there.
Telegram is no E2E-Messenger. I know you can enable it per chat, but that's so solution. And groups are always not encrypted. Also they use some non-standard encryption. Why?
Signal needs my phone number. I dislike that idea.
I use Discord for anything unimportant. I prefer to not use it though. For voice I still prefer TeamSpeak, because of the end to end encryption and self hosting.
I agree about the Spotify desktop app. It got worse and worse. But for me there are different reasons. Especially the performance got worse enormously. Still running the 0.9.7. The old Android apps were way faster, too. I really miss those times. Hardware got better but software got so much worse it's pure insanity.
I've been a Posteo user for over 7 years now and I couldn't be happier. I also use it for calendar and contacts sync.
It just works. But I doubt it is a Gmail replacement. It is a great email service provider though.
I think even 18 year old are too young. When I was 18 I would do all the stupid things. I would not trust this person at all. I think something around 25 or so is a good age. Not just this subject but in general.
Water!
This might sound a little weird, but I use a nose spray (any atomizer will do) filled with water and spray on my closed eyes when I feel like it.
I started doing this this year and it helped me tremendously. No more eye strain!
Before that I tried EVERYTHING!
* Dark Mode
* Night mode (Flux etc.)
* Changing Brightness
* Changing ambient light
* a few different eyedrops
* Looking away more often
* Sitting farther away from my monitor
* Different monitor positions
* Different monitors
* Sitting less in front of a monitor
* Bigger Text
Nothing helped me. I asked my doctor and he couldn't help me at all.
Sprinkling some water onto my eyes? It just works.
(I guess my eyes are just overheating or something? But honestly I have no idea.)
I have this issue with my T470. I'd love to use some Linux distribution, but not waking up brought me back to Windows.
A temporary solution was just keeping it on, which used up about 13% of the battery per night, but that's not a long term solution.
Yes! Slack, Teams, Discord, Spotify. All of these are horrible. I hate to use them. Good thing is I only have to use one of them.
I wish there was more modern low latency software.
Except it’s not bullshit. EasyList does exactly what they promise: privacy.
Prefetching is always privacy issue because you don’t know what’s running on the server side. They will log what I’m looking at and which sites I’m probable to view next. That’s almost Amazon level on page tracking.
I think I could probably build an invisible grid and use that script to track users more precisely, but I haven’t looked into it.
Prefetching can be misused and therefore should not be allowed. And yes, it’s theoretical. So are XSS, CSRF, and others.
