the west is regressing on climate because, quite frankly, almost anything we do is pointless. we're not the ones who need to do anything to have an impact on the world. the entities that must do something don't want to
yeah, there's absolutely no "maybe" about it, you are definitely out of touch :). I don't know in what way exactly, but something is off. What is your per kwh rate exactly? You might be getting some kind of subsidies that you are not aware of, perhaps? I used to live in a 1200 sqft house in LA without any AC or anything consuming too much electricity, and 10 years ago before all the rate hikes I was still paying more than $100/month in west LA.
> but most Americans believe that continuing to create smarter and smarter AIs is dangerous, so who's playing god now?
Aren't you just making this up? I haven't seen any surveys on what "most Americans believe" re AI. I know a lot of people that are concerned. But I'll bet good money that "most Americans" don't give a crap
the effect this kind of thing has on the broader market is that it makes everyone else reconsider their hiring plans. I doubt there will be as many open positions after this announcement and it won't all be from hiring
Twitter used to remove the blue checkmark if the user changes their name or their handle. and the verification was an attestation that Twitter verified that the user's name matches the identity.
not sure why they've removed that. would've helped here this case.
honestly, after seeing how badly twitter has handled all the crypto attacks any change is a good change at this point.
i know people love hating on elon but twitter has always been a terribly run company. they've been a joke for a long time. why not give the guy 3-months and then we can judge?
> The Fed has been funding extremely reckless fiscal policy for two years. We literally shut the economy down and gave people checks for doing nothing. I don't think we need to reach for fancy explanations. The reason for inflation seems plainly obvious to me.
100% this. I don't understand the motivation or the logic of the people who argue against something that's so obvious
> in practice their lawyers will be telling them this is their recommendation to minimise legal risk, and I have no doubt that they’ll listen to their lawyers and do what they say.
there isn't even a need to see a lawyer about this. there's literally no issue here for the company to ever get sued over. the only risk here is for Elon himself to be reprimanded by the Tesla board. and the chances of that happening are below zero.
absolutely, and so should you. he made all the shareholders a massive amount of money. not just that but he got them the best outcome possible. he should be celebrated
> Legally, Musk has to pay Tesla for this, and someone very senior at Tesla (the board or the senior executive team) has to approve – without Musk being in the room. But, why wouldn't they say "yes"?
that's not true at all. there's no law that says Twitter/Musk has to pay Tesla engineers anything. it's only up to Tesla's management to decide what they want in return for those resources. Also, as CEO there's nothing stopping Elon from using all of Tesla's resources to help Twitter or any other company. it is entirely up to Tesla's board and shareholders to punish Elon for what should be a gross misappropriation of Tesla's resources
you're describing how most startups are founded: find a problem, build a solution, find users. from what you're describing you're doing an excellent job at it.
PMF is only needed when you're trying to build a certain type of company. if your goal is to build the next AirBnB or Coinbase, then you absolutely need it. if not, then you might not need it. you can build a "successful" company (in quotes because I learned that ppl define success wildly differently, sometimes) and wealth without needing PMF
it should be, and it needs to be if we ever want to fix this problem, but it'll be political suicide for anyone that even says this out loud. corporations would be all for it to.
(majority of) people with jobs have no idea how bad/expensive healthcare really is. they have excellent insurance coverage and they pay very little for it. if we make them responsible for buying their own it'll be impossibly expensive. but this is exactly what they need to realize so that we can have the political movement to overhaul the entire system
