Because most engineers nowadays have the fundamentally wrong idea about how their software should utilize the user's hardware: they treat user's CPU and RAM as their playground and being infinite, and therefore act as a platform to make their life easier instead of their user's.

I don't understand why people still bother with these kind of choices anymore. Why not just write your own service and self-host? I just vibed a git hosting thing and it has been running fine for some months.
My wife has been visiting an eye doctor several times. The doctor always use ChatGPT to double check (I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt; another way to frame this is the doctor didn't know shit and just used AI for answers).

For many years I've been saying to people that the world will all copy China because it's just too good to resist. Reactions from people were usually along the lines of "we have laws", "believe the system", "we are a democracy", etc. lmao
I don't know. My grandpa is 96. He uses a smart phone just fine. He even uses LLMs through the web chat UI. He also uses Photoshop to edit photos. My grandma when she was alive was also using a smart phone.
