I'm using kiva.org and have deposited $9,000 over couple of years.
With auto-relend option my account circulated currently $58,325 through 2,268 loans (individuals or groups) in 61 countries.
For auto-relend I chose all countries except US, both genders. The sectors are Agriculture, Clothing, Education, Food, Health, Manufacturing, Retail. Have not chosen sectors Arts, Construction, Entertainment, Housing, Personal Use, Services, Transportation, Wholesale, as I do not feel these are basic enough.
I wonder if there are any public APIs for those "TSDB, TIDE, CLASS, KSTF, TECS, IBIS, TUSCAN, TACTICS" etc. databases. Would be interesting to look at the data.
What are the acronyms?
I'm of an European descent and I'm not talking on behalf of Japanese nation. Just my personal thoughts.
Japan (Tokyo) is my permanent home and I feel unease with all the economic developments of our immediate neighbor.
I'm more than happy that they could lift themselves up from poverty and I'll be happy if we could be good mutually respecting partners.
But I'm also quite concerned about my future in the next 10-15 years. Quick economic success can lead a nation to feel they are better than others. History tend to repeat itself.
Could it be that Jay is hopelessly overqualified for this job? Whatever this position would be.
I assume the sweet positions for algorithm tweaking and HTML/CSS development from scratch are already taken by core Amazon engineers. Well protected holy grail. Perhaps they are looking for is a junior expendable wheel in some sub-project, and not a person actually capable of re-creating Amazon from scratch.
Jay's qualifications seem for me quite senior. He appears to be more suitable for IT lead of a startup or a member of a think tank of a more intimate company.
Do not they having cushons, overprovisions, dummy weights, tolerance ranges to account for unexpected spec changes?
I imagine the systems are very complex, so the components are made modular, defining functionality and specs (size, weight, mass balance) and letting the implementation details to subcontractors.
While the subcontractor fullfills the contractual functionality, any eastereggs can be discovered only in a very late phase (qc, assembly), upon delivery.
The wording "discovery was reported" can be read as if it was a surprise discovery for all.
One explanation for the wrong answers is how people use the phrase 'pen floats', and how people are imprecise about using words.
The gravitational constant is 1/6 of the Earth's. This means that I can jump on the Moon 6 times higher than here and the pen will tale 6 times longer to fall down.
It will take 6 times longer for gravity to 'kick-in' and cause the perceivable movement, as we got used to here on Earth - where on Earth the pen moved already 6 cm on the Moon the movement is still 1 cm.
It looks as if the things are moving slower. I can catch a falling egg before it reaches the ground, my reactions are like of a fly on Earth.
So I can say that the things are floating on Moon, because they are not accelerating and falling fast enough, in common terms. In interstellar space the pen will fall onto the neighbor galaxy, but will do this so slow, that I will perceive as if it is floating. If the pen will move alongside with an object much smaller than the Moon (a rock), the pen will fall onto the rock with much slower acceleration. For time perception of humans it will float in space.
Another explanation for wrong answers is that if you feed people with stupid questions, you will get stupid answers. Have you asked me to answer these questions I will surely answer wrongly 'pen floats' and 'heavy boots' on purpose only to prove the point. These answers seem to be serious enough to mislead you.
"democracy cannot survive overpopulation. Human dignity cannot survive it. Convenience and decency cannot survive it. As you put more and more people onto the world, the value of life not only declines, it disappears. It doesn't matter if someone dies." by Isaac Asimov
I wonder how they tackle the problem of monoculture.
The issue with biofuel from algae is that once the container is contaminated with fungae, it reqires expensive draining and bleaching.
