The fact that the habitat is unfragmented means the virus can more easily spread through the entire population, and not just to more penguins, but to anything else that lives there, given it is affecting mammals too.
You're minimizing this news based on percentages killed so far, when the virus has just arrived and now has unfettered access to those aforementioned 10 million individuals.
It's a mass mortality event because it's infectious, has killed thousands already on Heroína Island and isn't over yet...

This is one of my pet peeves. I wish OP (in general) would comment as to why they're posting, what they found interesting. I don't flag these posts, but they do sometimes feel like a lazy karma-grab.
