I always enjoyed trying to figure out what the Big-O of a snippet of code is, so I thought maybe others would as well.
GDPR and Net neutrality are two different things. Net neutrality is very much a problem in Europe. It's not talked about as much as in the US unfortunately.
Also, GDPR applies to companies of all size - which can hurts small companies more than bigger ones.
The Neuman U87 is a very popular microphone in the audio world in general (TV, radio, post-production and even music), especially for voices[1].
Going a little further, the mixing console you can see on the picture is a Lawo Sapphire[2], which NPR seems to have installed in 2012. According to this gearslutz post[3], a 12 faders + central section was starting at 20,000€ back in 2010. You can see on the picture that NPR has a 24 faders version.
The audio monitor on top on the console is an RTW[4]. It's kind of hard to tell which model it really is, but the TM9 for example starts at $4,200[5].
Other "state-of-the-art" speech recognition solutions already exist.
For example, Microsoft has been offering it through its Project Oxford service.

This is indeed an issue that can become quite frustrating, although you'll get used to it pretty quickly.
Here are a few things that could help:
- Swift Playgrounds[1] can be extremely useful to experiment with little snippets of code.
- On the simulator, you can slow down the animations (command + T)
- Sometimes, I temporally add a UIButton to trigger the animation again...
The whole native vs. hybrid apps has been discussed extensively. As you noticed, among other things, hybrid apps are not as snappy as their native counterpart.
It’s still looking pretty rough around the edges.
