Hard to deny videos and pictures of destroyed russian equipment. Hard to deny the reality that they have not captured key cities. Impossible to deny how united the world stands against Russia.

Something that seems obvious, there's a major proxy war going on. Ukraine just happens to be the ground. This is why Russia is losing so badly.

In the meantime it's really too bad about the narratives being shared by objective electronic equipment on the ground. Are they narratives? Maybe that's not the right word. They seem to show civilian targeting without need of a storyteller.

I don't think that's cynical. It's almost certainly true that a lot of the positive news we're seeing is part of a deliberate propaganda campaign. But it's worth noting that

1. Propaganda is not necessarily untrue. 2. It's working.

Even if you don't speak Russian nor Ukranian use Google Translate and just wade though the available information, preferably original source info from the ground and not the media regurgitation. It is a work, yet your cynicism will get back to reasonable level.

Personally i can say that the Western media this time is pretty much on point. It doesn't mean that media has become better. It is just that their standard narrative of bad Russia has really matched and even got exceeded by the reality this time as Russia is actually waging (and losing by all the signs) criminal and completely unprovoked and unjustified war while the Ukrainians are really fighting it tooth an nail.

It is true that there have been issues with nationalism in Ukraine and treatment of Russians by them in the East Ukraine (the issues totally ignored by West). Unfortunately that war by Putin totally poisoned any effort to fight those issues, and made those nationalist forces one of the key forces in the current Ukrainian fight for freedom and independence, and thus totally unassailable for the foreseeable future after the coming Ukrainian glorious victory in this war.
