i've had a middle of the road garmin for a few years now. What watch you want depends what you want out of it. I cycle daily and like to have the information available for how long my commute is, what the weather was like (though the wind speeds are often very off).
It works nicely as a watch too, though unless you pay top whack they aren't very fashionable looking.
I don't care much about apps, but I do care if it can connect to other equipment (like a rowing machine or a turbo) so being ANT+ compatible is important to me.
if you've seen tailess cats in the UK (I know you refer to the wider commonwealth), they would not be mutilated, at least legally, like that.
tail docking, ear docking, declawing, descenting (of ferrets), is illegal unless for the health of the animal or for a few working breeds where the dog is a working dog.
(England and Wales do have some different laws on this than Scotland and NI)

feels like complaining that an article on the NYTimes about Connecticut vs Pennsylvania doesn't show a map of the USA indicating where the states are.
lots of ebikes around nowadays. I only get annoyed at them when they pass me going up the harder hills. And that's because I'm jealous of them, not actually annoyed!
our bike club members assure me that an ebike isn't all easy sailing. I believe them! With how heavy the ebikes can be, you can't just be sailing along on the battery, not putting in any effort, and expect to go very far.
always interesting to see the differences in commute times per vehicle. Where I am now, it's just over 7 miles to work, cycling is generally faster than the bus, bus is much faster than car (bus lane for > 50% of the journey).
