I believe pip-chill still operates on packaged installed into the environment. This project seems to derive from the code itself, even if no packages are installed in the current environment.
Outrage is profitable, it drives engagement, and encouraged by these platforms algorithms. And when everyone sees so much outrage all the time, it normalizes it on the platform so even if you're not seeking income from it, that's the default stance.
Since the abstraction is NFS for access, I wonder what the advantage over EFS is. Or more, why not just leverage this under EFS if it was a straight improvement. Compression and snapshots seem like some of the biggest wins over current EFS.
I thought JAMF was Apple Only Ecosystem as well. So it's a lateral movement from the perspective of heterogeneous set of devices, but if you had to go with Apple or third party, given the same features and limitations, most would go first party.
Much later than these, but I remember quite fondly all the DOOR BBS RPGs and games on our local BBSes in the mid 90s. I would come home from school, grab the really long phone cable coiled up, and run it across the house to the kitchen so I could log on.
At least in California, they can't make the choice to purchase alcohol or cigarettes until 21. The more the science links football to permanent health effect, the harder it is to sustain the logic to let them play as "consenting adults". Say nothing of the lengths to cover up some of these effects by the NFL and probably the NCAA.
Maybe, but they did explicitly state that's not what they want to do.

I think rather it's a revenue issue, until relatively recently there was no way to profit from updated games, so you're better off moving on to the sequel, or next year's edition of the game. Also a lot of the video game development culture likely stems from console releases, which again until "recently" could not be updated (only new versions of disks/carts for future customers) so it was not feasible to plan for future maintenance, beyond what was necessary for derived codebases.
But each device could have it's own unique signing key, signed by a manufacturer master key that is not distributed. Then you could revoke just that one device if the need arises (or even a manufacturer). Isn't this a fairly solved problem in the TLS/CA space?
A signature doesn't have to be protected from malicious removal. If a bad actor removes it (or modifies it), then the video can no longer be validated and is considered compromised/unknown (which may be the same thing depending on how important validity is). DeCSS was removal of encryption, not signature, which is a whole different set of concerns and goals.
