Weird, how does that even work? Does cracked mean its' been decompiled? It's strange because it includes other stuff like build scripts, etc that wouldn't be in released binaries..
You should check out Gabor Mate (there are many good interviews on youtube) to understand the nature of addicting, especially as it pertains to things beyond drugs and alcohol. The high level summary is that addiction is usually less about the specific vice than it is a tool that helps you disconnect and find relief from inner turmoil and/or anxiety. The best thing you can do is to let yourself become open and curious about yourself and what you're going through from a holistic point of view, and then think about how you want to heal.
Simple, direct, democratic. $1000 is a good amount - for those in need it can be stretched to go a long way (just imagine the status quo alternative). For those who are more comfortable, it's an easy amount that can be saved, donated, or spent on discretionary items, all wins for us.
Everyone in the comments crying "I'd never buy a car without a test drive first" as though you need dealerships to offer a chance to drive their cars. Why not order a test drive experience online to appear at your door, just like we do every day with Uber and Lyft?
Choose curiosity and patience over judgement and commands. Such a simple message, and yet in practice it's so easy to fall for the (illusion of?) control, thinking "there's no time for curiosity or patience here."
Really good points. I found this video ("Is Utopia always Dystopia?") fascinating, delving into similar territory about expanding our idea of what utopia, and thus a better future, can be.
> Another thing I've learned is that we are extremely brittle about this practice, as a society. Our thinking about keeping logs tends to be black & white (a common sign of lack of education on the matter) and we hesitate or think in terms like "OCD" when people around us really leverage this practice[1]. IMO this is really unfortunate.
The refactored page brings up good points. Git has undeniably improved the world of software development, and is de facto the version control system to use in the majority of cases today.
That said, that doesn't make the points SQLite makes invalid.
I'd like to, but what is a reasonable alternative? I mainly want a social place to share and connect with friends, many of whom are not technical people. If they were, things would be much easier...
IMHO: Sublime was once leading the way as a light weight, easily customizable editor. Since then, a slow release cycle and various compelling alternatives like Atom and VS Code, has led many users away. So in this thread you see people not discussing this release so much as the present day dynamic of Sublime and its place among these (arguably faster, better, more customizable) editors.
This is beautiful and amazing. I love how each step builds on the previous, and uses pop examples to explain theory concepts. I've often wondered so many of the things presented in this, particularly around what common characteristics a genre has with respect to rhythm! Big kudos to the team who built this. I'd love to learn about the development backstory, as this feels a lot like an internal sideproject made by passionate individuals and less like a product idea dreamed up with requirements and specs.
