Europe, USA and the rest of the world can easily turn into what Russia had become, if certain actions are allowed to take place.
If Trump had his way (change constitution/replace/kill his opposition), we could have authoritarian state in USA in 5-10 years. EASY.
Whats happening in Russia should be a contestant reminder for the rest of the world of what happens when you dont have a system of check and balances. When you dont have functioning legal system. When you dont have freedom of speech / freedom to protest.
> It's always interesting to think about who has had the more successful, fulfilling life between Woz and Jobs.
“You smell like a toilet.” This is what Steve Jobs told his daughter Lisa Brennan-Jobs while on his deathbed, she wrote in her new shocking tell-all memoir about her bumpy relationship with her father.
“I was afraid of him and, at the same time, I felt a quaking, electric love,” she wrote.
In her memoir, titled “Small Fry”, Brennan-Jobs says that a lot of her memories with her father were not a typical father-daughter relationship. She talks of him denying paternity despite a DNA match, not sending financial help to her and her mother, and saying mean things to her in the little times that he spent time with her.
Totally makes sense. Fun fact: In the past i was involved in a company where they implemented anonymous feedback system. The feedback system did so well .... that they shut it down in a month and never discussed the results. It uncovered too many problems that nobody in the management wanted to address. This company is on the verge of bankruptcy now, 5 years after those surveys..
When people are allowed to speak up freely - truth will come out quickly. (Yes, you will get some noise too, but id rather adjust my signal to noise ratio then just deal with meaningless noise all the time).
"If consumers were beating down car dealership doors to buy every EV they could, car manufacturers would shift heavily towards EVs. If everyone buying a house were looping in a solar panel installation into their loan, we'd probably see more competition and faster price drops in solar panels."
this logic is part of the problem. you live in a privileged bubble where people buy electric cars and install solar panels on their houses. Median American household has only $10K saved up, many below that and live paycheck to paycheck. What EV/What homes/ solar panels? First we have to solve socio-economic wealth gap issue THEN address climate change.
"Climate change activism these days is almost entirely a concern of middle- and upper middle-class people in the industrial world: people, that is, whose lifestyles are disproportionately responsible for the dumping of greenhouse gases; people who use much more fossil fuel energy, and many more of the products of fossil fuel energy, than the average human being."
>In reality, when interviewed by officers of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at LAX on June 7, 2020, Wang provided information that he was, in fact, still currently a “Level 9” technician in the PLA, employed by a military university lab.
Are you seriously telling me that the guy who is supposedly sent to "spy" in the US - just tells them at the border , oh hey, no i actually i lied - i work for Chinese military. I dont buy this - there is more to the story. I mean, do they waterboard foreigners at LAX?
Regent Law Professor James Duane gives us startling reasons why we should always exercise our 5th Amendment rights when questioned by government officials.
