Basically early Computer scientists were mathematicians, so CS would essentially be a math major if you really think about it. Since it's all about translating math into boolean functions a computer can understand usually.
I think that's pretty much par for the course if you look at human history. Given that our culture is being locked up and thrown away with infinite IP extension and the game industry has successfully stolen PC games for the last 20 years and we now have windows "as a service" in windows 10. Evil looks pretty much like our MO as a species.
>I just want to ask where the fuck is the father in all of this and why isn't he helping?
You're assuming too much intellect from the bottom of society, as someone born unto poor parents. They are ignorant beyond all comprehension, you get people who are religiously fundamentalist, quasi mental headcases, and fathers that are dumb as a post.
The people at the bottom of society are basically injured by the system itself and of course they end up making bad decisions, they get the worst education and are in toxic cultural environments like religious cults because they come from families who were historically poor to begin with.
The truth already exists without our perception of it. Think about this - if there was no absolute ground you couldn't have so much as a single perception.
The problem becomes the human minds limitations, aka the problem isn't with the universe but the minds of human beings and their relationship to what actually is.
The problem is the human mind is not made to understand computers, the reason we have C is because assembly language was tedious, the reason we had assembly language is because direct programming binary was tedious...
You see at each layer we've created abstractions. The problem is what we want to do or is easy for us in the real world is a giant list of millions of instructions for a computer turning a switch on or off according to some mathematical function. When we want to draw we get a pencil and paper because the universe already provides the 'infrastructure'.
Programming however means you're creating entire universes from scratch. That means you have to create atoms, define their characteristics and functions and you basically end up having to understand the behavior of the machine to get it to do what you want it to do.
At scale this completley out-stripes what the human brain is capable of grasping. The reality is research into translating machine or human models back and forth between mind and machine needs to be a field unto itself.
The hardest part about programming when you start is wrapping your mind around how the machine works underneath it's a foreign language to most peoples minds.
So I have serious doubts most people can comment on it with intelligence. Most people are not experienced enough to know what they don't know. What are valid and not valid criticisms, etc. Because it takes a lot of tim and expertise to understand different models, abstractions and approaches.
I invite you to try getting a mate or date while being a poor man in north america and see how it effects your mental and physical health.
You're a god moron, status matters and if you don't think it does you need to have your status and health reduced so you can feel what it's like to be on the receiving end.
Cut out sugar, bread, and liquids with empty calories. Eat meat, fruits, and veggies -- even frozen ones. You'll drop weight very fast switching to high meat and veg, and dump the carbs/sugars.
For those of you who are skinny and want to bulk up and don't mind eating somewhat bad food: Eat lots of sugary candy and junkfood like potatoe chips. I find it's the easiest way to get fat.
Except you really don't have a choice, the internet allows companies to hold programs hostage and you have no market power.
The modern internet is one giant computer which companies unofficially own or control. By coding software in a fraudulent way where they take advantage of mass computer illiteracy from their end.
That's how DOTA 2, league of legends, SMITE, paladins, fortnite, exist... they can only exist in a society where mass internet penetration is sufficiently large, or else they would have just been regular PC multiplayer games coded like Quake 3 or UT2004.
You don't get the agenda, the last 20 years has been the greatest theft of PC games in history. When valve dropped steam in 2004 - the patch to take control of half-life, it was an act of fraud and theft because his customers couldn't reach him.
Valve is the biggest theif in all of history. The internet changes the dynamics of power between companies and customers because they can simply hold files and programs hostage on their computers and call it a service.
AKA google play is pure criminal enterprise, games you never own and who's programs run on your device but who's executables are wrapped in encryption and critical parts of the code run on googles servers, even though they are asking for money from the public.
The whole model exists based of mass computer illiteracy. These "Software as a service" models are irrational because the whole agenda for corporations is to deny local apps to the user for monopoly profits.
They get away with it because their tech informed customers are trapped 100 miles away, so they can simpyl force policies.
Free market theory is over, the power assemetry between creator of software and buyer is overwhelmingly now in the producers favor.
Nowhere is this seen more clearly then diablo 2 vs diablo 3 or starcraft 1 vs starcraft 2.
Where the game is the same but they hold the program hostage on a computer in their office to deny application control to the people buying the software. It's just fraud by any other means.
There's no reason for any game, application, or os to be split between my computer and the companies. It's fraud on a massive scale, they are literally enslaving peoples computers because writing software means you are a governing power in an internet enabled society.
Most people are not technology literate so you get a disaster in terms of privacy.
DRM most certainly is. BEfore the internet there was no "DRM" in the modern sense, copyright protection back then did not lead to incomplete software.
Modern DRM is literally taking control of other peoples machins remotely by holding back part of the program on computers in corporate offices. It's literally fraud.
As someone who lived through the glorious 90's before internet penetration allowed the theft of PC games by rebadging rpg's mmo's. DRM in the modern sense is literally stealing game files and functionality to remove application contorl from the user.
The reason it's accepted is because the average consumer has no idea how technology works and how badly they are being fucked. They are too stupid to be market participants. The modern gaming market is a market for lemons.
Because the mind doesn't see the world as it is, you see things in that paper that their minds simply can't grasp. The enlightenment view of reason is not correct...
Uhh have you not been paying attention for the last 20 years? We went from ownign our software and devices to not owning them as the tech illiterate masses got internet and smartphones. Google apps, app stores, steam, mmo's... those are all NOT FREE internet.
They are not there for your benefit when you have to login and your software is controlled by a remote party, you are monitored and controlled.
People in the west seem blind to the fact that they are basically corporate slaves, when a cursory examination of the facts is that they are amongst the most enslaved indoctrinated people in history.
The US is a lawless empire and has been it's founding, if you don't think western governments aren't interested in clamping down on the internet further, just view this by former national security advisor of the United states, Zbigniew Brezinski:
>2.6 million cameras in Chongqing!? that number is mind-boggling.
You need to get an idea of what the upper classes are thinking, they need data to divide and conqeur, here's former national security advisor of the united states:
Article is a load of cobblers. The mods tend to be no different then milquetoast centrists because most of them work in the corporate world.
HN is very america centric and anything that goes against "the american narrative" that america is great, the free market is great, usually gets downvoted pretty hard. To suggest HN is a dispassionate place is quite the bit of nonsense. HN has it's mod and user hivemind because it pretends to be rational when it isn't.
Take the topic of software ownership and the mass invasion of privacy, or the theft of game software over the last 20 years by corporate america. The rise of steam, server locked software and invasive privacy invading games and apps which are specifically coded against users controlling them.
Or the fact that the public domain has been destroyed and america has been a place of total corporate lawlessnes for the last two centuries, if one is going to go by scientific evidence, the rule of law does not exist in capitalist societies. You have one class that's completely above the law.
Man it has very little to do with government and everything to do with your worship of free market nonsense. In a capitalist society capitalists own the government. AKA private power. So the judiary being corrupted to benefit corporate interests is a no brainer since that is the way the system is designed. It is working as intended.
America has robbed it's own population blind for the last 200 years, all cultural works have been sucked up into an international criminal oligarchy.
Software is being stolen en mass and coded fraudulently to remove your basic rights and freedoms to own what you buy because the masses are technology illiterate.
All apps on mobile spy on you and are controlled centrally, and stupid gacha games are defrauding a tiny minority and they don't even get acopy of the game they are spending hundreds of dollars gambling for virtual characters in.
MMO's, steam, origin, uplay, are all DRM systems the original slashdot nerds feared.
Modern hackernews nerds, even if they could be called that, are pro DRM, pro steam, and PRO DRM in windows 10... a giant wtf for any real nerd.
