Reddit isn't saying HTML has a security flaw. The problem, from reddits perspective, is that old reddit makes it easy to scrape a lot of content anonymously. Requiring a login gives reddit an account it can rate limit or ban, while "New" reddit provides more telemetry and anti-bot checks.

The article is right about one thing: JavaScript and frontend bloat do not secure public content. They just make scraping more "expensive"

But frontend design does affect how easily a site can detect and restrict automated traffic. Reddit may have a real abuse problem. Calling the change necessary 'to keep Reddit safe' though, is slippery wording. this is about controlling access to content and automated traffic, not protecting anyone from unsafe HTML.

the core idea for this tiny project was that someone say to me, to find someone we need to do both, but i was curious to turn this idea literally; What is more effective? To find someone in the dark, shine a light on person you're trying to find, or shine a light on yourself so that person can find you? this tiny app even do A/B tests with your settings.

To have true VHS effect, I think we should train AI for this, examples from digital videos to record on true VHS tape, on multiples VHS devices then digitalize and calculate difference between original and digitalized from VHS.

Then even we could have filter like: VHS Panasonic, VHS Sony...

This would be very interesting project.

btw, even his dottxt.ai, look interesting, that gives for every query to llm a schema how to respond, i always tell my llm how to respond in system prompt, but this is much cleaner!

This is not really a new idea, even I wrote "how" in rust, that just ask my local llm and after approve execute.

But the idea from OP is much better! I love that he used basic tools, this comma remind me a little bit of old irc bot, it was exactly the same flow, ", <query>".

BTW, no one need $7k device to run eg. gemma4 e2b, even your phone can act as llm provider, it was a joke from op ;)
