But there isn’t a finite amount of work. If we can do something with less then we should be able to do significantly more with more by applying the same optimizations.
It might be able to identify a unique user but not the user personally. I think there’s also a fairly broad margin of error in how accurate it can identify a unique user.
I have a non technical bachelor’s degree and work at faang as a senior engineer and have been offered to move into staff.
I think being curious, always learning, being likable and good at interviewing (leetcode and sys design) don’t need a college degree after a few years of technical experience.
Everyone assumes I have a cs masters because that’s common at faang.
If I could get a do over though I’d just get the cs degree. I think there’s some value there.
The post isn’t asking our opinions of TA but rather for those that use TA to provide feedback. There’s obviously a market and this provides a product for that market similar to creating an app for astrologers.
I already work 4 days a week. Friday essentially is such a slow day with no meetings that is virtually optional. Been this way in several companies in the US including at big tech companies that are not known for wlb. 25% cut sounds like a bad deal for me and good deal for employer as they’d get the same amount of work done as before.
> To me, it's difficult to imagine anyone getting canned and thinking 'meh, no biggie'.
I think there’s a subjective component where it does feel like a big deal no matter what savings you have. But objectively if you can cover expenses for a year then it really is ‘meh, no biggie’ .
>The average index fund fails to outperform the S&P
This is a straw man as most people understand investing in indexes as buying a an index that tracks the s&p.
>If you are picking S&P as your champion, then I am allowed to pick a hedge fund as my champion.
You are making a false equivalence. The s&p is a proxy for the us market and therefore is a benchmark. It captures the captures the bets placed by all market participants including citadel.
Citadel does something beyond buying and selling equities to generate that alpha. And it’s likely not just restricted to equities. Nonetheless they are an outlier. Which is the point I was making. Most people won’t do better than the us market in aggregate over a similar stretch of time.
What I don’t get is not having investments/cash to hold you over for a year or even 2. Whitecollar jobs pay well and I’d expect most people to have earned quite a bit in the dot com frenzy.
>Because they're angry and they're being stupid and reacting emotionally. Please understand, they raped our women, tortured them and then murdered them. They did the same to our men, old people and children.
I have to point out that you are holding soldiers of a wealthy country to the same standards as a terrorist organization in one of the poorest parts of the world. It contradicts the claim that Israel is a bastion of civilization in the region. The behavior of the Israeli soldiers is despicable and your explanation seems to downplay and rationalize it.
I haven’t seen anyone get laid off due to ai but maybe we don’t hire as many contractors to deal with some work that is now much easier due to the intelligent automation. Perhaps leadership is factoring this into their headcount decisions now.
