It's not about images. This is about digital authenticity and historical record that is easily verifiable in an open, global system. This is instantaneous transfer of those rights or assets to anyone else in the world. In-game purchases of items, tickets to an event, transfer any digital item and the verifiable rights/ownership of it. Mark Cuban has been a big proponent and has been implementing use cases and I think it's more eye opening once you begin to see more advanced usages. https://twitter.com/JrWhipstock/status/1460311826026147840
In America, it's been a persistent psyop campaign under the guise of fighting terrorism for the last 20 years. Trading freedom for security. People are more and more conditioned that control and authority in their lives is there to keep them safe. Whether or not they consciously believe it, subconsciously these ideas still permeate our everyday lives and now we just sort of accept it. Governments and powerful people have, and always will, push these boundaries, since it's essentially the quest for power (control). I don't know what the solution is, because more or less I feel everyone is so divided (and in that sense, conquered). There's an undercurrent of distrust (albeit mostly aimed in the wrong directions) but it hasn't really boiled over enough yet. More and more I think this is just an inevitable outcome to where we are as a society. I'm not trying to doom and gloom but it feels like the writing is on the wall. These things have happened before. Seems to be human nature in that we tend to repeat the same mistakes and it looks like we're currently doing that now.
Yes, they ultimately act at some point and not at others, and that is their policy or stance (action or inaction). The problem is the actions they've been taking that are leading to the results I'm referencing.
Think about how ridiculous this is for a moment. It's an easy loophole, and just more red tape and a bother. That's also not really the issue though. The problem is rates in general. Trying to spur growth into a system where there is none. Forcing speculative investing because of poor central banking policies and tough economic conditions. Ultimately the backlash from this will be worse than if central banks had avoided interfering in the first place. However, the interference has allowed a free-for-all in inflation and asset repricing to attempt to shift the debt they created away from themselves and increase wealth for those with assets. So in a sense, it's working. Robbing Peter to pay Paul. No one should be under the assumption anything else is happening here with these policies.
Yea, that's the major problem. I'd prefer just some sort of inline helper that could point directly to documentation, topics, stack overflow answers that might be helpful for whatever I'm developing. An enhanced "Intellisense" or something. That to me, is better, because ultimately it's up to the developer to place scrutiny on the solution. You basically can't blindly accept the implementation which makes this just a constant code review, of yourself? I dunno. This just seems half-baked
Thought for Uber. License the software they already have (maybe at a certain rate and/or percentage of revenue) to the businesses and/or governments and let them handle the employee side of things
Right? Back in 2016/2017 it seemed more open. There was discussion about technology. I remember quite a bit about Bitcoin and blockchain, Ethereum, smart contract platforms etc. There's been a lot of technical innovation in these areas. Ethereum has a real product in DeFi nowadays and there's been some really amazing technical achievements. With Ethereum's move to PoS it will put the argument of energy consumption behind us and then the merits of having a distributed worldwide computation system might get talked about again. I don't get the hate now. Maybe people are just holding backs and are bitter about it
Exactly. As they say, first step is always the hardest. The switch from PoW to PoS was monumental and I'm glad they took the time to execute so well. This is a great step forward for Ethereum
I'll add onto that and the prediction for 2020's from yesterday that meat may very soon begin to price itself out of the market with meat alternatives from Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods, etc being first movers in this area could be a great investment over the next decade
Facebook isn't the best example of anything really. There's plenty of services that encrypt messages end-to-end without the ability to "unlock" the message by the service itself. What I don't understand is the argument or case being made that giving anyone the ability to break encryption is a good thing. Smells to me more like ulterior motive to just get the backdoors put in. This isn't actually going to protect anyone any better. Governments have already long had tools to subvert things in various ways regardless of the need to actually break encryption. Why are we arguing for a larger surveillance state?
What they're really saying here is "We're ditching the users that got us here for the ones that we're targeting. They generally don't know shit but it's a market we haven't captured yet and that's all we care about"
You couldn't be more right. QE and the Fed propping the market up are why we're at where we are right now. Conversely, last December the tough talk, rate increases, and general hands off approach led to the sharp sell off. Until policy changes or something else drastically affects the market in some way, we're probably back to the slow grind up.
I switched a couple of months ago because Chrome is just a bloated piece of garbage. One of my favorite features in Firefox is containers, which I used to have different users for in Chrome. Maybe Chrome has something similar now but it's one of the things I liked when I switched over. Haven't had any issues so far, glad I did
