Companies are adopting the 4 day work week, but the numbers are still super small, even in tech industry that are most open to these type of experiments. There is a small trend among private companies, specifically in the tech sector, in moving to a 4 day week (the real 4 day week, 4x8hrs schedule) as they recognize the benefits for both sides, especially around retained productivity and better well-being, which then translates to better talent retention.
Advocates such as 4 Day Week Global consult companies on this topic and coordinate trials for them to test the waters or share results of surveys (available online) done with companies that already undertook such a trial. I've been watching this space for some time now and it's all definitely worth the attention.

A four-day workweek across all sectors is still years away; however, a good few private companies, especially those in the tech industry, have adopted it. Here are 169 companies (https://okjob.io/companies/) that have implemented short workweeks for those who are interested. The USA and the UK are the leading countries with 4 day week companies(P.S. 61 organizations participated. A year after the pilot, 54 of these organizations continue to implement the 4 day workweek. Among these, 31 organizations have decided to make the 4 day workweek a permanent arrangement. This means 89% of the participating organizations have continued with the policy in some form, and within this group, 51% have committed to the policy permanently.
Many companies acknowledge the reality of burnout, and with a scarcity of talent in certain professions, they believe that offering 4 day workweeks is a step in the right direction. That's why you see some companies offer 4 day week to their departments with creative roles and not task-oriented with easily measurable output such as warehouses, a good example is ThredUp company.

There is one company (close.com)that gives you the option to work for 4 days @ 80% pay, or 5 days a week for full pay. All the other companies offer a 4 day work week at full pay.
Here is one thing about 4 day week that opens eyes. If you are let's say 35 and hope to retire at 60, switching to a 4 day week could save you about 1,300 workdays—that's, roughly 3.5 years.
I've recently finished a handpicked list of 4 day workweek companies (4x8hrs), and off the top of my head, only 2 out of nearly 100 offer the option to choose between a full time 5x8hrs and a 4x8 with a 20% salary reduction. All the other companies listed only offer the 4 day week option + full pay - the 4x8 with the reduction in pay were an exception on the list.
To my knowledge, the groups that lead the 4 day workweek campaigns on the international stage advocate for a 4 day workweek without a loss of pay, this could be one of the reasons why we don't see companies offering 4 day weeks with a pay reduction.

It doesn't make me lazy but I clearly feel different. The quantity makes some difference but still no matter how small the portions are the feeling is not the same as if I had no meat. I feel that being 100% vegan isn't healthy but I recommend to everyone to try go vegan for a couple of days and not take the current feeling for granted.
