The problem with french subtitles is that for many popular series/movies subtitles don't match the actual french speech. Looks like they are just translating English subtitles separately or something.
It's not needed for everybody to watch this footage, summary video can be presented. It just should be linked somewhere for those who want to see the results and verify summary themselves.
Thanks for the article. But the goal of the graphs should be to show level of change and let graph speak for itself, if it's high or low. If they were anchored at 0 it would actually allow to see visual difference and for me personally it would be "way that was mostly readable side by side".
Regardless of the results, that is very disingenuous way of showing up charts, like floor being ~1000 and first result having 2500 score and second 1000, basically being on the floor, even though real difference is 2.5 times.
Yes, it's weird that car decided to turn right. But I don't agree that's it's easy to speculate that it would hit the pedestrians, they were pretty far. I would think some emergency braking would take over or something. We have many thousands of tesla cars out there, lots of people are making videos about autopilot, but I don't think we have an example of a car actually hitting a pedestrian?
"Car doesn't yield to pedestrians". For "almost hit" I would expect car to run by pedestrian in less than half a meter or for pedestrian having to react quickly to avoid car.
To be fair that chart only starts in 1900, so you can't see 18th century here. And in the wikipedia page of this chart it says "By 1900, bowhead, gray, northern humpback and right whales were nearly extinct, and whaling had declined". But also in the original phrase "peak of the whaling industry" speaks not just about number of whales killed, but size of the industry as a whole, amount of people involved. Because with new tech I suppose those massive killings in 1960's required much fewer people.
When Texas removed mask mandate in March there were such claims as well ("it will be so bad, Texas is doomed"), but nothing happened and cases continued to go down as in rest of the country.
What would be competitive angle? What percentage of users do you think would care if your app transfers not 445kb but 345kb (sincere question)? I just always was skeptical about "reducing sizes" just for its own sake, and not in the frame of improving performance or noticeably reducing latency for the user (which could be related to the size or not).

If you plan for such model beforehand you already might be lowering overall efficiency. You know that you can't get the whole thing you want as one piece, but you plan "one third now, another third in a couple of months and the last third in more couple of months". Overall you might end up with twice the effort, since you had to account for that split, but in the context of kernel it still makes sense because of all the complexity and many people working on it simultaneously. And of course it also depends on "splitability" of the thing you're working on.
