Nothing could be further from the truth, full family had flu twice now, me three times(never had that before in my.life, once a year max was normal) and I see the regular flu wave still existing. I haven't had covid that I know of, did tests and am vaccinated.

But this is not cost efficient, the agencies can just subpoena the businesses for data, simple as that.

This depends heavily on the country.
Some countries severely restrict what police can access,in former or current socialist/communist countries the people expect nothing less than all data available to the government and in the US the people believe somebody safeguards their data and privacy, this is almost ironic when you think about how many google , Facebook etc are out there, not to mention agencies like NSA doing mega data collection wherever they can.
Doesn't matter much on an individual basis, the governments will always find a way to get what they're looking for once they seriously target you.
It will create job in India. The government doesn't allow multinational companies to get away with having all the market access and data control while evading taxes.
As a non US citizen,I would say US politics is not all that bad, neither party can be overthrown or something.
I have plenty American friends who live or used to live in various states and different segments of society. Like anywhere else it's not perfect, but top 5 in the world I would say.
In many latin American countries there is a fierce divide between left and right, the distribution of wealth is unlike anywhere else, the poor live in favelas, the middle class lives in gated and secured communities, simple things like leaving a gated community can be a danger to your wallet or life.
The leftists are very extreme, the middle class is conservative, they want their status protected. Neither side realizes that it's better anywhere else in the world, almost literally.
The left does not even offer a social system for the unemployed, this cannot deserves the label left and leads to most of the crime, they happen due to dire economic straits.

This is a very insightful post. I had family which suffered from both the fascists and the communists and even royalists to a degree.
Where I am sceptical about the German "did not know" is, all these soldiers who went on invasions, they had families and surely some reported about the matters.
In the east European countries and the south, soldiers did report home and speak to families.
