The most important hint is - unless you are Indian developer with $7 per hour - dont sell yourself too low. Two years ago I looked at 15$ per hour and thought - wow, thats cool, how can I ask more? Now I have about 50$ per hour and think - not so bad, but should I try $100?

Of course someone should fix other people's bugs and someone should do tech support. As well as someone should be a slave, someone should work as a cleaner or keep streets clean, but why you should do this boring stuff ?
I've read the article. I am sure that when a new child is born he has, say, a 5% chance to have an ability to be a programmer. After the lucky one grown up he will get all required information and experience just because he has the ability and finally, say in 10 years, will be a good programmer. Other 95% may do everything they want, they can learn how to program, read a lot of books, do all their homework and hobby project, but they will grow up only to the certain level.
