I used to use them two years ago when they offered 200 snip for educational accounts. I then subscribed for personal plan for 5$ when I was writing my MS thesis. It was useful and make me write quicker ( Still needed manual edits for most of the time). I then cancel my subscription when they put a limit on personal paid plan. Then they raised the prices of the (now limited) plan two times in the last couple of months. They also moved the free plan to be more of a demo. starting this month this ia their plans
Github becomes a favorite option for research and academic people to work and collaborate their projects their. That is a reasonable move from github to make it more suitable for them. I know my group and several others are relying more and more on github as git host with other products used for collaboration.
Chinese government (propaganda) is usually deploying this logic to suppress the discussion about their actions. It is a wide spread tactic that we see everyday. It is not like china is ever interested in helping people in Iraq, Afghanistan.. they could just stop doing the same (if not worse) as a good well gesture.
Excuse me, but why would we take what most Chinese people believe as a factor when trying to verify or understand their government actions against Muslim minority?
I mean not to say that Chinese people that most of them probably never heared (or cannot) of the tank man would be a good judgment about truth which the government are hiding on a regular basis.
It is clear that many people (sometimes with good intentions) would bring this logic to any discussion about this matter.
.
China is having their Muslim population put into camps and they live in a horrible injustice situation. They are targeted because of their religion /ethnicity.
Chinese government saying that US is being hypocrite because they did so and so in Iraq and whatever happened after 9/11 from abuses..etc would be good. If only they did that in general while not trying to say okay don't talk about us doing it because we think you did the same.
That would be great if you stand up against oppression in general not just when you can benefit. It would be great if we can just talk about people suffering and try to help them in every possible way.
I think the main problem here is that Google don't let you know what went wrong or let you have any actual human you can talk to. This is what makes their decisions seems arbitrary is you have to guess at best why this happened.
One aspect that is usually get forgotten by Russians and people saying that on HN is that it is either sanctions that will lead to some people life goes miserable anyway or a war which 99.99% will be ww3 with A potential nuclear destruction of the planet. so if they don't want sanctions I also don't think they want this war. The only solution for them other than these two is to rise up as they are the only chance for that to go without a war. If you think the price of rising up against putin is higher then prepare to live with sanction and probably prepare for a war if things got escalated outside Ukraine.
In the mean time, try to think more about the actual people who are getting killed, losing their homes everything they have. And they don't know if their family members are alive or not. Don't play victim while you're at least contributing to the war efforts with your taxes. Never mention what Russian military did in Syria for years so it is not even something new.
sorry for being harsh, I understand that many Russians are against the war and get caught in sanctions but trying to play the victim card without taking into consideration that silence here is not acceptable is hard to believe.
I think the UEFA should ban all russian participation, like all the west should have stronger actions and isolate russia on different levels, most importantly isolate the economy and flatten it the ground, it is possible to do but there is always a cost for that. But it is the least it can be done if military intervention is not on the table.
Also taking a serious stand against russia should be a priority, there are many conflicts that you can support sides that are facing Russian aggression which shouldn't be costly. Lets not forget the US passing on russian actions in.syria gave putin thr confidence and chance to act stronger in Ukraine. We can think about Libya where there ar some US allies in the region and France supporting the russian actions there.
Raising the costs to russia will be the only chance to avoid the possible terror of wars that might happen later.
Then invading Ukraine wouldn't make Russia getting more borders with more NATO members whose now would be very angry about russia and will do whatever they could to make things difficult?
