I wanted to share an interesting (and unexpected) turn of events with my product, Skimming AI.
Initially, I launched an open trial for all use cases, thinking it would allow users to explore the platform without limitations. But soon, I noticed a recurring pattern—people were creating multiple accounts to exploit the free trial. Instead of feeling frustrated, I decided to take a bold step: end the trial altogether.
Here’s what happened next:
Within just 3 days, my MRR shot up by 150%, reaching $300.
This response made me realize the genuine value users saw in the product despite removing the trial.
With the holiday season around the corner, I thought—why not make Skimming AI accessible to everyone? So, starting today, Skimming AI is completely free for everyone.
Enjoy unlimited conversations with multiple data sources all in one place.
I’d love to hear your thoughts, especially if you’ve faced similar challenges with trials or freemium strategies.
But it didn't appear on the home page and when I reached out to my community they responded beautifully but my votes instead of increasing stay the same or sometimes decrease and those are not bots, they are real people, I already know them.
The support didn't respond at all. I see this happening to other founders as well.
2. Too many bots:
Instead of getting users' feedback or some potential clients, I have been getting lots of queries since yesterday to buy a package to become a product of the day. I mean WTF!
3. Today's newsletter of Tibo Maker relates to my latest launch experience.
Yes, it can be done. But writing on the basis of images. Do people want to try on this? Currently, people are using AI writing on the basis of keywords and short descriptions.
I have a chat application called Chatdox, used by over 4,000 people, including many paying customers. With Chatdox, you can chat with various types of information like documents, audio, videos, YouTube, and websites.
Now, I want to make Chatdox even more versatile by offering specific benefits for HR professionals, lawyers, students, and business founders. For example, an HR person can create a folder and add all HR-related files to it, then share this with their team. The team can then ask questions, and the system will provide answers.
Similarly, a lawyer can use Chatdox to compile reports, videos, and audio related to legal cases, organizing them in a folder. They can then share this information with colleagues and their colleagues will be able to chat with these data sources.
Additionally, users will have the option to integrate these data sources into their websites or applications using iframes and script tags
I have had multiple launches this year on product hunt. I have earned my first dollars with product hunt.
Now, the money has disturbed the product hunt algos. Instead of founders making their own communities, they are accepting invites to different free lancers offering them paid votes to list as product of the day.
There is no advantage in this. Its a false flag. I launched chatdox 2.0 today and when I was reaching out to community, I got 5 messages for paid votes. I still don't know how that works.
Yes you are partially right. You can avail free versions but cannot avail the whole experience. We are providing the complete package where user can ask question from not only single document but group of questions. Also these tool require vector storages if you want to save your data for future use. We are doing it for users. Not everyone knows how to work with github. And if everyone knows about how to work with git repos then there is an alternate solution for almost every paid app out their including open AI
Nice. You read my mind. This is actually a generic tool. I am working on 3 use cases of different industries and implementing this feature for their specific industry.
I have studied bill.com model. They are providing such services. And customers CPA are their direct customers/users. I think this can save their time. Because they have their invoices organized in an app already.
I totally agree with your first case scenario. I didn't think of this.
I am a second time founder. My first product is an erp which is successfully working in different markets. And I observe the use of paper there. Calculate there expenses and assume an idea of converting paper invoices into e-invoices.
Thank you for your time and enormous feedback. But don't you think that there is a high time we should change the paper culture. As most of the paper invoices becomes a part of dustbins.
Internet is becoming a necessity. And mostly people are interconnected. Invoices can be shared with click of a button if available online.
I totally agree with all of your cases but then I think if it is executed with the right direction. It could be of value.
