It's worth it for developer marketing. People are constantly googling for anything that solves their problem, so if you can post useful solutions that tie into your product, preferably with some soft of freemium hook, its great.

I have no idea how often people google specific keywords in other verticals, so ymmv.

His argument is that it's useless as a research topic because you cannot perform experiments about it.

You can still believe it if you like, but its slightly less useful than trying to convince everyone to replace pi with tau..

Exponential is probably the easiest way to say "a search without usable gradients in a high-dimensional problem space."

I think the better argument is that most "breakthroughs" are exponentially hard, or we wouldn't consider them breakthroughs!
