"When an engineer is reviewing another engineer's code.." I agree--but society doesn;t operate like this most of the time. I've been in places where an Engineer's opinions carries little weight on who gets hired.
I did not mean to offend or generalize--there are many people of the same race around the world that dislike each other. I believe everyone is inherently racist--it might be an evolutionary trait (Terror Management Theory comes to mind where the thought of death cause certain people to become subconsciously sectarian), but it doesn;t suit us very well anymore in modern society.

Not surprising. Rich white people want to stick together and give opportunities to other rich white people in their own circle. It's the same for Asian people in Silicon Valley as well--I don't think it's fair to single out one particular race for this type of behavior. Racism seems to be a human characteristic--whether it's in prison or tech firms, racism is pervasive. It would be more interesting and very much more innovative if SV where a true meritocracy.
AFAIK ss was not meant to be a complete replacement of netstat. The ss utility (part of iproute2) uses netlink to monitor sockets only. The netstat utility (part of net-tools) uses old school ioctls to do things like manage routing tables, multicast membership, interface stats...long story short, iproute2 replaces net-tools.
Pragmatically I believe you are correct. I think negative whole numbers and zero are also a subset of "whole numbers" along with positive whole numbers.
Seems over-engineered in my opinion. Why not use a simple shell script for
mount dependencies and autofs for auto-mounting? Having a service manager job queue to mount a file system is a bit much.
Typically I've seen teams have a set of build-machines that use NIS/LDAP to authenticate and authorize users, but also auto-mounts an NFS home-share on something like a NetApp filer when a user logins. Developers have their own laptops and ssh/XForward to build machines.
Many people in the technology industry suffer from living in a bubble. Yes, self-driving cars are the future, but people will NEVER give up driving if they have a choice. This is true especially for Americans, where having the freedom to drive where you please is ingrained in the public psyche.
