The crazy, unfair visa process has saved a lot of software projects by keeping a lid on the flow of low-quality talent from China and India. It's too bad that well-qualified individuals are kept out by the same system.
Ideally, I'm for open borders & against any immigration restrictions.
In practice, as a software engineer, I dread working with H1B engineers from China and India because, overall, they're worse engineers than similarly-credentialed, similarly-experienced engineers from the US, Canada, or Europe.
