I have never understood this phrase, and I see it a lot from Windows users. When I use the command line (and I spend ~12 hrs/day on it), there is no mucking. There's no frustration with it.
I'm honestly asking: what do you mean by mucking about?
Did anyone else notice that the ISOs have to be stored on a FAT32 partition? Doesn't this limit you to maximum 4GB ISOs? The OS X Snow Leopard ISO (at least last time I checked) is about 8GB. Seems pretty limiting to use Fat32. If it's a self contained system, why not use a better filesystem?
Same thing here.. I was searching the error in Google and found a bunch of blog/forum posts saying that adding the following comment line to /etc/hosts, restarting iTunes, and trying it works:
# 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
I was totally skeptical because it's a comment line, but I thought, "wtf, i'll give it a shot. it's just the hosts file." and it worked.
