Hey Email looks to have some great features, but at $12/user/month it's more expensive than Exchange Online or Google Workspace, which means it's more a choice about whether a user values Hey's nifty features (and they do look nifty) than an easy option for email domain hosting vs the OP's issues with iCloud+.
For my family's email needs, $12/user/month is a bit of a non-starter given the competition.
New Zealand’s unicameral parliament, has supremacy over all other parts of government [1] and cannot be overruled or contradicted by any prior parliament’s legislation … the bill of right’s drafting reflects this. As a consequence of New Zealand’s somewhat atypical political history (as a former British colony without a federation treaty or other founding constitutional document), it’s not really possible to entrench any legislation so it can’t be overruled by a normal majority of a subsequent parliament.
I’m not sure I’d agree with your idea of expressing your preference as something that can’t be argued against.
Your preference to travel could be understood as imposing a negative externality on those you contact while travelling (in the event you were infectious at the time). If so, I think an argument of why you are taking precautions to make your travel safer (for others) might be more persuasive or thoughtful than a mere statement of your preferences.
If your preference approach is applied to other negative externality actions (like smoking in restaurants, driving much faster than others) the argument seems weaker .... your “I just like to do it [impose costs/risks on others]” rationale has the risk of appearing selfish rather than empowering.
It's not obviously true that high pensions mean unfairly high remuneration. Another hypothesis that fits the facts you've mentioned could be that private sector salaries that could be earned by teachers are higher, and the public sector is competing by offering more attractive pensions for teachers than the private sector does.
There's another possible contributing factor: government can offer higher future pensions without increasing current expenditure (because government is not forced to fund the higher pensions until they need to be paid, many years in the future). Maybe that's why so many US states have dramatically underfunded pension plans (meaning teachers and other pensioners might not actually get their promised pensions when they retire).
There appears to be a website [1] for the self-paced, Scheme version of the course referenced (61AS) although it doesn't appear to be run as a MOOC formally. There's also a well-organised site for the scheduled, Python version [2] .
I prefer R because of the wide variety of statistical methods available in base R and CRAN. ggplot2 is nice, but having it in the same system as generalised additive models, robust regression, ARIMA and state-space time series modelling, GARCH packages, and a huge range of other statistical methods is very convenient.
My experience is that if there's a new statistical method developed, it will be often be implemented in R first. (This may be more true for statistical methods than machine learning or other fields).
I don't think there's quite such a wide range in the Python ecosystem yet (although it is rapidly growing, and is definitely a better choice for certain analytics situations).
None of this is to say that you necessarily lose anything other than convenience by using other languages eg Python for modelling.
