TiDB has gained some momentum in silicon valley with companies looking to adopt it. Does he have any commentary on TiDB which is an OLTP and OLAP hybrid?
The only people who will respond is those who want to claim some status by saying they drive a reliable old car or some rare version of Porsche or Saab.
Nobody who drives the most recent bme x3 or Audi a8 or Nissan kicks is gonna respond.
This is commendable, people who travel 50-300 miles do not use an Aeroplane because you need a car on the other end regardless, so I rather take my car.
For example, SF to Tahoe is demonstrated as a route I could fly, but I need a car on the other end for sure. I could rent a car which is a pain.
I could arrange a driver service, but at that point I could get driver to drive me from San Francisco.
It is too expensive for folks who want to fly themselves and save money, it is not a great deal better for those who can hire drivers.

In Silicon valley, its usually a race of execution. Hire an engineer today at any price rather than wait for tomorrow. This is due to sheer competition breathing down your neck. I do not see this in Europe and hence they do not have the urgency and low wages.
Getting very rich allows me to do cook less, do less chores and build up my skill further (get better) or to pursue passions that do not pay well.
I calculated moving to Europe as a SWE would lead to a drastic lifestyle change for me—even with retirement, healthcare and children's education considered (with 2 children, Europe wins at 3 hands down).
Lyft is being petty here. I understand that they cannot make all drivers employees, but they could have some drivers on the road and not pulled the rug on users.
This goes to say that you cannot trust private companies like Lyft for critical services. The government actually has been transparent about this change and Lyft is acting like a spoilt child, not even willing to try the employee route.
On my street in SF that has a dead end, cars keep coming up looking for parking and on weekends they usually find nothing.
But they get stuck turning around and cause a mess.
