to be fair, if it's truly a "derp" commit you're better off using "git commit --amend --no-edit", which is technically rewriting history but in one stroke :)
The constant eroding of the State's sovereignty and the consolidation of power into the Federal Government's hands make this somewhat more troubling in the future however. Especially as we move towards more pure democratic systems and away from representative republicism. A similar compact for approving amendments could be an issue for instance.
I'm not sure the relevance of the link.. I never said cigars were healthier.. certainly there are risks involved. But there's a huge gulf between a pack a day habit and a couple day a month indulgence.
