Of course its just basics, its a good start for beginners. It reminds me of the stuff I used to teach to junior programmers wanting to explore Linux.. Im already an advanced Linux user, but there's always something you haven't come accross yet... Thats one of the things I like best about Linux in general and bash.
I code Flash too, on 2.26 Ghz laptop running 4gb and multiple distro's, no real problems here..
A lot of us Flash coders actually want to drop Flash from our websites, widgets and resumes. It performs bad and puts a lot of stress on the CPU, blocking my vital programs from running.
I've been coding Actionscript for some time now, but only started really liking it when 3.0 came out. I remember when the Papervision project became popular I loved coding Actionscript.... I still do and I dont think JS has the right properties to become anything close to Flash.
Yeah in the old days it performed quite bad. Nowadays with the newer distro's like suse 11, (k)ubuntu and a couple of others I really havent found any more glitches than on any regular windows machine running flash..

Small footprint is really great on an multi user environment or when editing or viewing large files like logfiles.
I was used to editing files over ssh with Vi, but after they improved;) I was hooked on Vim forever. Vim really is an absolute a must-have skill in your toolbox.
No, Im having the same problems ever since they first introduced their "smooth" scrolling features and it gets my CPU running flatout.
Its the same in every browser I work with, it takes a long while to load. And when it's finally done loading, it still has to get the content for the visible viewport when scrolling.
Thats pretty much the problem with not only TC's website, but actually a lot of these sites out there nowadays use this javascript scrolling feature. Remember the new Google images UI?
I usually get around this with Firefox's excellent web dev toolbar. I Check the "disable cache", "disable images" and "disable javascript". Finally I check "persist features" to save my configuration and my TC and Elgoog images load in like milliseconds..
This is not entirely true.
There will be only 1 popup asking the user's permission to "run" java code through the browser. After that, the applet can download anything on the box it needs and execute it.
The applet has full access to the local filesystem with the same priviliges the original user has. If needed the hackers can further exploit the machine, by escalating user priviliges with some corrupt scripting..
GSM was cracked a long while ago, but now after Karsten Nohl has published his 1.7 TB rainbow tables via torrents, script kiddies will eventually be able to hack into your phones..
Has anyone thought of what is gonna replace our broken A5/1 GSM privacy the next couple of years? Will we need new handsets to provide us with the next-gen cellphone encryption?

Then I figured out these things were pretty expensive and started building them myself..
This is a great advance in technology. The Cray XT5 delivers 1.75 Pflops, but is dwarfed by the Tianhe-1A's 4.669 petaflops when all its graphics processing units are operational.
Also to do the job, the Cray needed 224.000 processors
This new Tianhe-1A needs "only" 21.500 which is great even if you are never going to carry your supercomputer around from time to time anyway..
MS Bing is not really up to the task either..

Have been working pretty hardcore on web development for 10 years now but will stick with firefox for debugging because I use a lot of their tools, for example:
Firebug, Web dev Toolbar, HttpLiveHeaders, Rainbow and a couple more superior extensions..
Yeah I agree, there really should be some guidelines concerning the messages government people leave behind on hacked computers. How are users supposed to know if the message is real or authtentic? Its not like they send you a PGP key to go with it..
