This was my response to the NYTimes article ( http://www.nytimes.com/2012/07/29/opinion/sunday/is-algebra-... ) that questioned whether algebra should be required for American students. I believe that it is a powerful way to learn how to problem solve.
(I am the author of the post) - I think you are right if you are self aware; however, when you are all amped up about your idea it is tough to stop and imagine that someone might think it sucks.
