That was very well put. I noticed an increasing negativity in Show HN posts lately. The usual inquisitive and supportive comments are being replaced with straight up negative and dismissive ones (or maybe it was always like this and people being nice is just a fabricated memory of mine)
Thanks but I'm aware of Zapier. The custom app is fairly easy to maintain, I can keep track of changes and it provides total flexibility for my needs in terms of parsing and how to store the data.
Yeah, I've been doing this for a couple of months now. I just happen to use a combination of Gmail filters, IFTTT actions to post to a webhook of a custom app hosted for free at Heroku to parse and send to Google Spreadsheets. It's been serving me well, definitely better than my bank's app.
A friend of mine is using Gaussian Processes with ML to fill gaps in time series. He is working on a project for a government agency that analyses data from roadside sensors such as traffic, speed, etc, so they are using Gaussian Process to fill data gaps when those sensors fail.
I've been in a situation like yours once. I was really upset and didn't know what to do. By that time I was reading a Derek Sivers's book Anything you Want and I was feeling so much connected with the author that I've decided to send him an e-mail telling my story and asking for some advice/guidance. For my surprise, he replied my e-mail on the next day. I think his answer fits to your question, and by the way, it was exactly what I did and it couldn't have been better.
Mr. Sivers's answer: "Quit now. If your heart's not in it, get out. Be honest with [...]. You're not helping them or your self by doing something you're not excited about. :-)"
