Hi bonesinger, I am a web developer from Vietnam, and I've always wanted to be part of some startup in the US, seriously. I read lots of news on what's happening in the SV. Yet it's difficult for me to get started since I don't have connections in the US.
What I have to offer is my technical expertise, a very cool social web app framework that I've been building for the last 3 years. How cool is it? OK, let's say, I can build a quora clone within 1 month, fast and scalable. It's using Mongodb, redis, nodejs in case you're curious and has been applied to some websites that I probably shouldn't mention here yet.
You need more technical expertise and are lazy to learn it, and that's definitely what I'm good at. Also, from what you mentioned, my guts is telling me you've got enough passion and business skills to promote/run a product. That's exactly what I need for some of my ideas that I'm about to do.
So, to sum up, here's my take to your question: You can leave the development to me (or you can develop with me) and start thinking about other business-related stuff to make it success. That way it might work out for both of us. I've been thinking about this kind of collaboration a long long time before I read your thread but this is my first time I write about it.

Another point is, I can't remember who (pretty famous analyst) said this, but something like: "There's nothing wrong with China's getting richer and stronger. The only problem is China was once depressed by other countries like Japan, England... And like a child, when he grows up, he will take _revenge_ "

If you look at Paracel Islands, yeah, maybe China's close to it. But if you look at Spratly islands, which are very much territories of either Vietnam, Indonesia or the Phillipines.

Plus, the attacks happened around Spratly islands, 2 days right after Shangri-la Dialogue, with the participation of top military bosses, including Robert Gates, where China promised to use peace talks to resolve the problem.
My 2 cents here:
1. China has always been a world of its own, it acts by its rules and what it promises is just what is says, what it does is another thing.
2. China has become BIG, and worse, it IS aggressive. We'd better be prepared for a coming war, be it cyber or economical or traditional.
The Aurora attacks were followed by systematic penetrations of one industry after another. In the so-called Night Dragon series, attackers apparently in China went after major oil and gas companies, not only in the U.S. but throughout the world

One more "for" argument: in Asia, China's been accused by Phillippines and Vietnam, as well as Japan of aggressively invading their territorial waters, islands. Those areas are likely rich of oil. Actions such as sending war boats to damage fishing boats are a sign of China's ambition to seek more oil, oil and oil...
