I respectfully disagree with your thought process, especially when you say "because if they would have existed, they would have been found by now". If this is true then how is it possible that science still hasn't uncovered the mysteries around dark matter? Something is driving space to expand at an ever increasing rate, called dark energy...why? Why are we still mortal? Why haven't we yet solved cancer? etc. etc. Science may very well find answers to these questions at some point, and I hope it does.
My point here is that faith & science is not at crossroads, it's one and the same. Science is there to uncover the mysteries of the Creator/God/Allah/Bhagwan and the spiritual dimension of life. Everything is magic until you know how it works. Same goes with faith & religion. Science and humans will always play catch-up and that's what makes life exciting. :)
