I always have this joke I tell which I'm starting to get more serious about. I'd like to get a medium size statue of myself made that I can hand down. It's hard to lose and would need to be deliberately destroyed(or disaster) to stop existing.
This isn't limited to recruiters. Software sales has shown up on my phone often enough that I don't know if I want my profile public anymore... It's basically a public directory of every tech company.
You are probably right about the forced advertising but I have mostly positive memories of Channel 1. I actually think those programs/TVs probably help peak a lot of kid's interest in media. The school I went to had their own news broadcast that came on every Friday. It was entirely produced by the students and everyone really enjoyed it. A good friend of mine was a part of that program and went on to become a TV camera man. It wasn't all bad and we probably could have used some Clearasil.
Please don't listen to blanket nonsense like stop eating carbs. They are not unhealthy, and serve as fuel for whatever exercise/activity you choose to do. Exercise more and eat a well balanced diet including carbs, fat, and protein.
I think the point he's making is that they achieved this in a much shorter time frame and they basically used cell phones to accomplish it. The companies you listed have been around for decades.
I'm not sure I see the hacker news connection myself. It's a news site about sports. They weren't really doing anything particularly innovative besides the popular editor and good writers.
I agree with you that it needs more study. Were you prescribed Marijuana? If not, then it seems like you may have just coincidentally been one of the few people who's performance improved as a result taking this drug.
Walmart's number would also be significantly higher if they included part-full-time employees. Walmart has been known to keep employees just under 40hrs so they don't have to provide full benefits.
I'm the father, and hope my kids end up with a million in their lifetime. I started with enough of a negative hand to know it's unlikely for me without a startup or real estate miracle.
Not sure if you've ever heard of Carmax, but it's designed to be the opposite of what you experienced.
I used them to basically order the car I wanted over the internet. I browsed their site, found the cheapest one in their inventory, and paid to have it shipped to my local Carmax. They called me to let me know the car was there and I went and test drove it. The price was set, so no haggling, and just friendly service. It was the best experience and probably the only way i'll buy a car again.
Check it out next time... it really was surprisingly good service...
ps. I've had the car for 6 years and ended up being an overall terrific buy...
Thanks. This is definitely on the business side and an area where I think I can still improve. I don't quite agree with the labels idea but I understand why you're suggesting it. I'll keep this in mind.
This is a great article but I wish it would have also included advancement in area of steroids. We live in an era where drugs fuel a significant part of professional sports. Top tier athletes also have top tier drug regimens and their "doctors" have found ways to 'hack' the testing. It's an area that the media isn't open about discussing but it is there with the millions of dollars at stake.
I know I'm leaning heavy on the sports side of the article but this isn't all a result of refining the skills required for sport. They are also faster, stronger, and recover more quickly because of the drugs athletes take.
