Not in the Enterprise WiFi space they haven’t, it’s ubiquitous there. Though that tends to be over trusted networks or Radsec if you’re doing it right.
Mythic Beasts have been offering v6 only for years on their virtual and dedicated hosts - I've got a VPS with them with only v6, no point in paying for v4 if I don't need it.
They point out that offering v4 as a separate line item leads to conversations with accountants about "what's this line item, and do you actually need it?"
I remember the Sheffield ones well from the early 90's.
I imagine Sheffield University are stuck with them, there simply isn't enough space in the building core for conventional lifts to meet the requirement to move a lot of students up and down the building in the short space of time between lectures. I do remember the conventional lifts being quite big, but with long waits.
I find it interesting that there seems to be a (wilful?) ignorance on the part of our government as to quite how big and powerful those corporations are.
There seems to be a bit of a "We're the government, so they'll have to do what we ask/tell" going on here I suspect. Probably coupled with incompetent IT project management that didn't bother to worry about the terms and conditions they signed up to, because that was too hard.
Actually decapping the original chips is very much a thing. See for example Chris Smith's work mapping out the innards of the ZX Spectrum ULA - http://www.zxdesign.info/book/insideULA.shtml .
No, it was not "stolen", nor have they (Namecheap) "taken it hostage".
"we were required to put these domains in the custody of the court" - which is something quite different.
You may well have a legitimate gripe with Facebook, but Namecheap are simply following the orders of a court of law. What other action do you think Namecheap could take here?
Get the Ham radio out, see who's around. Get a better antenna and more powerful radio and see who's around further away.
Though these days 5 watts as a bit of wire will get you a long way with some of the low bandwidth data modes. But is that cheating for the purposes of this discussion?
Ha, I pretty much got into computing around then as a kid when my dad would bring one of those very same QEC 380Zs home for the summer vacation. Or a Commodore PET, with the built-in tape drive.
Loved the mad clicking between the floppy drives when copying files around with pip.
