Wow, awesome! Do you mind answering a few follow up questions via email or something? You can drop me a line at the email found in my profile: https://news.ycombinator.com/user?id=lukezli (I can't find your email unfortunately).
Really appreciate your help, and no worries if you're busy!
I've gotten bug bounties from Facebook/Google/Firefox by applying fuzzing to open source projects, using AFL/Libfuzzer. I'd say that fuzzing open source projects are a good, easy way to start security research since its relatively low barrier to entry and can pay good dividends.
Anyways, hoping to get a response from someone I can interview for my project! Please drop me a line if you can help. Happy to answer more questions.
Thanks a ton! Lots of great features planned in updates: user whitelisting in Safari, better default blockers, native iPad support, OSX extension. Will continue to be free
Creator here. I've posted about Safari Blocker before, but reposting for people who want alternatives to paid apps/ones that whitelist ads by default. If my app shows ads, its inadvertent and I'll fix it in future updates. Happy to answer any questions.
Hey, just wanted to clarify- I was not manually getting links and posting them. When someone posted a search query on my website, I would use 3rd party APIs and run the same search query on those APIs, then return results from those APIs to the users. All done programmatically.
Since I'm lucky enough to be on the front page of HN (thanks a lot!) I'd just like to shamelessly self promote and say
1) I'm looking for an internship this summer at a startup- please let me know if any of you have open positions! Please email me at lukezli[at]yahoo.com.
2) Check out my new project, catchyurl.co, a url shortener that creates memorable shortened urls like catchyurl.co/EskimoHill
Let me know if you have any questions for me- hope the blog doesn't crash!
Really appreciate your help, questions won't take too long!
