Flawed logic.
Sure, if people had to pay for Windows, maybe they would not use them.
But Linux is equally "available from anywhere, through anyone at anytime". You don't even have to pirate it.
So, if "everybody [in India] uses Windows all the time" it surely is not because it is easily available to them for free.
It's because they choose to use it over the equally available and free(er) Linux.
That could be for many reasons (they don't know any better, they are used to it, it is more polished, less hassle to use it for a variety of scenarios, etc).

Well, in most developer conferences I've been most of the devs (and the audience) are running OS X anyways, without Apple being involved. Even in the Java ones (despite Java not that welcome on OS X the last couple of years). Even more so for the RoR guys...
And the scrolling js thing might tell even more than if they "scrolled to the bottom of the page", if it incorporated time data, i.e how much time it took them for each scrolling. If it took them long enough to scroll, then we can bet they actually read it.
No, but you can pay someone $100 to install it for you and more or less forget it afterwards (since even WP version updates are mostly automatic from the admin UI --and even themes can be installed that way now).
